24 hours of hacking

Meet new people and build great projects - anything from a beer serving robot to the next hot social network!. Creativity is the only limit! Just remember: There are no bad ideas! You can work on anything you want. The only condition is: You will only be judged on what you wrote within these 24 hours.

Career opportunities

Get in touch with some of the engineers and recruiters of our sponsors, and make contact. Many companies usually send their developers to hackathons for presenting their API, give technical talks and get feedback about their products, that may have been used during the hackathon.

Meet other fellow hackers

You have the opportunity to meet fellow programmers from all over the world, exchange your knowledge or even find your future business partner with whom you will found your first start-up.

How much does it cost?

Thanks to our sponsors and partners, attendance is completely free. We will provide you with as much food and drinks as you need.

Who can attend?

Any student or recent graduate may apply from any university in the world, you do not need to study in a programming related field. We are also looking for mentors with hackathon experience.

Can I apply as a beginner?

Absolutely! DO!Hack is very beginner friendly, there will be plenty of mentors to help you out before and during the hacking. You also don’t need to have an idea before you arrive.

What should I bring?

Bring your laptop, charger and other gadgets you might use for your project (We also recommend comfortable clothing). For the need of sleep you could also bring your sleeping bag. But the most important: Don’t forget motivation and creativity.

How are teams composed?

Teams usually consist of up to four people. You may apply as a single person or as a team, and there will be a team building process before the hacking starts.

Do I have to work on a challenge?

You can work on whatever you want. Work on a provided challenge, combine data or APIs from different companies or work on your own project. However, you are not allowed to start working before the event, since this will be unfair for the other teams.

Where will it take place?

DO!Hack will take place from 16th – 17th July 2016 at the kostBar in Dortmund, Germany, which is a 5-minute walk away from "Dortmund Universität S" railway station. You can travel to Dortmund by bus or train, while close airports are in Dortmund and Düsseldorf.

Where will I sleep?

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of free space at the event. You may be booking a hotel or find a student (e.g. from the student-dorms) in dortmund to spend the night. Other you can try to sleep in the hall, but it`ll be a little noisy.

Are you providing travel reimbursement?

Because this is our first hackathon we aren't able to provide you with reimbursements.

What is a hackathon?

It is an event where people team up to code something new and exciting in a short period of time. At DO!Hack we also want non computer-scientists to be part of this event.

Why do you need my CV?

Your CV is stored securely and will help you be a successful applicant. It will be forwarded only to selected partners, so you can get their attention for recruitment purposes.

How do you make sure, that all of the code has been written during the hackathon?

All code should be commited and pushed to your teams GitHub respository. The repositories itself may be created before the hackathon begins, but the very first commit should be done after the hacking starts.
